MONDAY JOY
A 5 MINUTE PRAISE DEVOTION
Get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD all week long!

"Blessed are those who have learned to 'acclaim'  you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.  They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness."  Psalms 89:15-16

Today, being Monday, the first busy day of our week, we pray that you get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD with us, the whole week long!

"those who have learned to
'acclaim' you"   Did you realize that there are aspects of praising the LORD that we have to learn and then practice.  There are great blessings for those who hear GOD'S Word and then obey.  The word, 'acclaim' means to SHOUT OUT OR TRUMPET LOUDLY THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD!  To 'acclaim' , is to give out a
SHOUT OF 'JOY TO JESUS!

Most of us are very familiar with the words; "Please turn that down!" or, 'Please be quiet!".  We are likely to have heard those words when we were children, or have found ourselves saying them to our own children. As a matter of fact, it wasn't very long ago that the words; "Children were meant to be seen and not heard", were quite common.  It can be a very painful experience for an individual who is expressive to learn silence, in order to please others.  While there are times to be quiet, such as when in public settings or other times when noise would be destructive in nature, the 'JOY' of the LORD by it's very nature is often an 'acclamation' of SHOUTS OF 'JOY' and PRAISE to GOD!

Paul and Silas were two men who knew how to
'acclaim' JESUS when appropriate.  In Acts 16:25, these two brothers began to get their 'JOY' on and 'acclaim'  the
LORD around midnight when the other prisoners were trying to sleep.  Remember, many of these prisoners had been seriously flogged and beaten just like Paul and Silas, they were in a great deal of pain and sleep is healing for a time.  As Paul and Silas began to wake the place up with songs and SHOUTS OF 'JOY' , many voices would have been screaming things like; "Would you two just shut up!"  "I'm in a great deal of pain over here! "   "I need my sleep!"   "Turn it down in there! "   "Shut up before we all get another beating!"  "What's the matter with the two of you, anyway!"

The legalist would say; "Oh, how rude of Paul and Silas, didn't they have better sense than to be so rude to the poor men suffering so?"
CREATOR, on the other hand took another view all together, it seems that before the screaming died out, while Paul and Silas'  were busy giving an 'acclamation' of 'JOY' and PRAISE to GOD,  "came such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose." {v 26}   Even the screamers were set free COMPLETELY. You can bet that everyone got their JOY' ON at that moment!

This is the nature of the
'acclamation'  of JOY' and PRAISE to GOD , you are set free from chains that bind you, others close to you are set free from the chains that bind them, everyone is totally set free from their chains.

Why wait?  Why not begin today to allow the
LORD to break off the chains that bind you, the source of those chains do not matter to HIM, freeing you fro being bound is HIS concern, HIS only concern.  Now you know the truth, you do not have to remain silent any longer, rise up, begin to give forth 'acclamation' of JOY' and PRAISE to GOD!  No matter the malady, are you ill, are you depressed, are you at the end of your rope?   HE will break those chains holding you a prisoner during your SHOUTS OF 'JOY'  to HIM.  JESUS we give forth an 'acclamation' of JOY' and PRAISE to YOUR Name, today and every day from now on...........................

MONDAY JOY
A 5 MINUTE PRAISE DEVOTION
Get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD all week long!

"Until now you have not asked for anything in MY NAME. Ask and you will receive, and your 'JOY' will be complete."  John 16:24

Today, being Monday, the first busy day of our week, we pray that you get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD with us, the whole week long!

It is natural and honorable of us to pray for the needs of others.  One of the first things we learn as a Follower of JESUS is to carry one another's burdens in prayer.  When somebody tells us their story or we read a note asking for prayer, the HOLY SPIRIT in us is stirred with compassion and empathy for them.

This stirring of the HOLY SPIRIT moves us to prayer whether it is for one person or even a group of people like a town or city after a disaster.  We pray because we know the LORD hears us and "our 'JOY' is made complete" as we see HIM move in the behalf of others.

We must also be sure to pray in our own behalf every day.  Some people think that praying for themselves is a selfish thing to do, but the LORD expects us to talk to HIM about our lives and our needs constantly.

Since we know that prayer is mostly just conversation [without religion], we must pray every day to build and continue our relationship with our HEAVENLY FATHER.  As we remember the fact that Adam walked and talked with the LORD every day in the garden, so we can do the same thing whether we pray on our knees [my personal favorite], while reading the Bible [my personal favorite], while driving to and from work or school [my personal favorites] and even while we take a 'prayer walk' [my personal favorite].  The point is, we are to be people of prayer 24/7 [my personal favorite] as we learn to pray continuously, you guessed it, [my personal favorite].  As we see the LORD answer our requests, "our 'JOY' is made complete".

The reasons for daily prayer are unlimited, the opportunities to pray each day are unhindered, HIS answers are absolutely unbelievably beyond our imaginations. Our confidence is that our HEAVENLY FATHER is always listening and that HE is always answering our requests throughout our day and life, therefore, "our 'JOY' is made complete".

Get your 'JOY' ON each day and pray for others, and pray for yourself, then stand back and watch HIM move as you discover how "your 'JOY' is made complete".

Remember:

When we pray in JESUS NAME . . .
Our
HEAVENLY FATHER hears our prayers
When Our
HEAVENLY FATHER hears our prayers . . .
Our
HEAVENLY FATHER answers our prayers
When Our
HEAVENLY FATHER answers our prayers . . .
We have what we have asked for in
JESUS NAME

MONDAY JOY
A 5 MINUTE PRAISE DEVOTION
Get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD all week long!

"They will celebrate YOUR abundant goodness and joyfully sing of YOUR righteousness."  Psalm 145:7

Today, being Monday, the first busy day of our week, we pray that you get your 'JOY' ON and praise the LORD with us, the whole week long!

Come on!  Let's celebrate!  According to the definition of the word celebrate, let us pour out, gush forth, bubble up, even belch forth the 'JOY' of the LORD for HIS abundant goodness!  To celebrate, you can't just pour out, gush forth, bubble up indifference if you are walking in the 'JOY' of the LORD!  No.  Have you ever seen the video of the song; "Come On, Let's Celebrate!" from the Seventies?  Well, there's a whole lot of partying going on!  For the child of GOD, there is to be a whole lot of celebrating going on in regard to the goodness of the LORD in their life.

By now you may wish there was going to be a 'dignified' ground to stand on so you could find excuse not to celebrate GOD'S way.  Oh how the intellect loves to remain reserved and comfortable.  Well, no go!  Did you think we were going to purposely ignore the most basic word picture defining 'celebrate'?  Here goes -   belch!  That's right!  Belch!

Have you ever been in a confined area with 5 or 6 Junior Higher's!  It would not be strange to hear a series of belching and hilarious laughter.  Once they get started, the celebrating explodes!  A pail of water could not put out the celebrating going on!  If this seems too undignified for you, stop and consider the picture of the mightiest King in the world scantly clothed, dancing his way into Jerusalem before the Ark of the Covenant.  David knew how to celebrate the abundant goodness of the LORD as he abased himself by dancing and singing of the LORD'S righteousness before all of Jerusalem.  Fleshly dignity took a great big hit that day, and yet, those who love the LORD with all their heart learned to celebrate before the LORD because of David's example.

Now before you start the Church of the 'Scantly Clothed Dancers',  [HA!], leave your clothes on and celebrate before the LORD with everything in you  [ belch ] , for HIS goodness to you.  How much goodness is abundant goodness anyway?  Just a little bit of goodness?  No!  Abundant [exceeding more] kind of goodness!   Ready to celebrate?  You will be when you consider HIS abundant goodness for you.  Celebrate JESUS everyday.  Don't  hold back, release HIS SPIRIT in you for HE knows how to celebrate without restraint
