Ezekiel 3:27b

. . . ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says!’ Those who choose to listen will listen, but those who refuse will refuse, for they are rebels."

Psalm 32

5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to YOU
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And YOU forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
                         Interlude

Confessing your sins to the LORD.  Sounds easy.  But let's look at the word confess.

Broken down, the word means talk with or more to the point, say the same.  What David did in Psalm 32 is grow so weary of the sin and the trouble it brought that he was able to say the same as HIM - sin is no good, it is death dealing and he should turn away from it.

It is amazing how our human nature will make allowances and find loopholes to allow sin to come in.  But we, as David did, will eventually see that it is so much more beneficial for us to follow JESUS than to chase after our sin nature.

We also have a wonderful promise that David did not have, in 1John 1:9

"If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

We not only receive mercy and forgiveness, we are completely cleansed of all our unrighteousness.

So, if you struggle today, and we all do to some extent, confess or agree with the LORD about your sins, turn to HIM, let HIM forgive and cleanse you.  Then walk all the closer to HIMHE is our only hope!
