The Lord’s Promise of MercyMatthew 12:6-8I
tell you that
one greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire
mercy, not sacrifice,' |
In this passage of Scripture and History, the disciples had been eating some raw wheat on the Sabbath to fill their empty stomachs. The Legalist Religionist of the time criticized JESUS for allowing them to work on the Sabbath. JESUS straightened them out using what was one of the foundational principles of HIS ministry, and a basic character point of the FATHER. And that is that our GOD desires Mercy, not Sacrifice. This is interesting coming from the WORD of GOD made Flesh (JESUS) since the Word is full of required sacrifice. But, that was never the way it was meant to be. HE desires to give Mercy and HE desires Us to give Mercy. Much or maybe all of the sin problem would go away if we all acted in a way of Mercy toward one another. I know it would certainly be a brighter world! So . . . brighten the world a bit today and show someone some mercy! |
